Rotary in the news
Rotary International was recently recognized in a Chicago Sun-Times feature about the key role social media is playing in Rotary’s campaign to eradicate polio through the new website endpolionow.org. The site lets users see where donations to the campaign are directed, track the decline of polio, and estimate the value of their tweets or Facebook likes to the eradication effort, based on the number of followers or friends they have. Tips for social media beginners
Starting out on social media can almost be like learning a new language. Social media has become an integrated and constant part of our everyday lives, which provides Rotary a great opportunity for public relations. But with millions of social media users, it can be intimidating to start. Mashable has curated a helpful beginner’s guide to Tumblr, Twitter, Reddit, LinkedIn, and Facebook. Spread the word -- ride to end polio
Rotary International General Secretary John Hewko and his spouse, Marga, along with Rotarians from District 5500 and around the world, will participate in the Ride to End Polio on 17 November. The district’s goal is to raise $200,000 this year during the event. Promote this ride and cause in three ways:
Donate through Rotary's Contribute page
Promote this to friends of Rotary, who can contribute through Crowdrise
Follow and share the Hewko’s progress on Facebook and Twitter

Preparing your zone with public relations in mind

The Rotary public image coordinator team in Zone 28 has done a terrific job of creating awebsite with public relations in mind. From End Polio Now resources to Rotary revitalization updates, the zone is keeping its clubs well informed. This is a great example of an internal-facing website and a place where Rotarians can visit frequently and receive the most up-to-date news and resources on public relations.
